  • Amazing quality/price, perfect nut replacement

Fantastic value, i somehow ended with the low E string causing the end of my nut to chip off. This was on a factory Epiphone Les Paul Standard (2011) ebony guitar. I saw this product, and purchased it on a whim as a quick replacement. Installing it took 30 seconds, retuned the guitar, and no other jobs were needed. Fixed. Tone is improved 10-fold, it's very true that this increases harmonics/tone with the material it's made from, also noticed my strings stay in tune much much longer. Highly recommend. If you have a Epiphone Les Paul, this is a simple drop-in replacement for the nut. Shouldn't need any glue, sanding or fiddly adjusting. Or at least i didn't need to in my case.

  • Tusq XL for Epiphone guitars

Seems good although never got to test it... When you drop it on the table it sounds very different to a plastic nut , more like ceramic. Although I have read Tusq XL is still synthetic so is a type of plastic I guess. One problem however and the reason for posting this review - it seems it is too shallow for epiphones. I have several from the pro range dating from 2013 onwards (les pauls and ES) and it is same story on each one. i.e the nut is so low the strings will touch the frets. Graphtec website suggests sanding Tusq xl and mixing with superglue to build it up and then sand? I may try this as I want to buy a new saddle which I think will need a lot of sanding so could create the tusq xl powder I will need. But, I would have thought, as the product description on their website reads, there should be plenty of height to sand to perfection - not the case I my experience.
