Great monitor let down by just a couple of things...
One of the best out there for basic AV monitoring. We've had three of them, and connected multiple cameras to one screen (you can't use multiple screens on the same system simultaneously, unfortunately). In general, it's really good. Clear picture in both daylight (colour) and darkness (infra red), Zoom function, two-way audio. Range reaches around most of the large bungalow we're in. Could do with a few more metres though.
Anyway, it's better than the various other models we've tried... except the software to repurpose an iPhone/Android device.
The biggest issue is that the screen is fragile and the unit is not well insulated from shocks if dropping it... or if a sibling knocks it off its charger/power dock, which is easy to do, given that there's a wire trailing from the dock to the wall outlet, and that the balance is a little top heavy in the dock. Break the screen and it's expensive to replace; like getting a new smartphone! If a smartphone were similarly built it wouldn't last a day. Similarly, there's scope for better battery longevity — if an iPhone/Samsung phone can last that long on a lithium ion battery, then really this could do much better! So you'll need a power socket for a full night (can't take it camping, for instance).
The other issue that bugged me but not my better half was the audio. You can hear things perfectly well, but the background noise is, in my view, unacceptably high; it means I can't leave the audio on overnight -- it keeps me awake. To be fair, we've been using it for a youngster who has some medical issues, so we need to be aware of quieter noises... so we probably have it turned up more than your average parent. For general wake-me-when-they-cry functions it's fine.
