Cuts through rough, stony soil with ease.
Unlike my straight edged spade, this pointed design cuts through roots more easily and gets past stones. My garden was once gravelled over so other than replacing four feet of topsoil I have to make do so far with struggling to plant at depth. Needed work to make good.
I bought this spade for metal detecting because a couple of the reviews are written by detectorists and referred to how good it was, I found it too bendy for the clay soil I detect on and I had to trim down the blade with a grinder to give it more rigidity, now that the blade is half the size it's much better and is still cheaper than the hobby brands, the long shaft is also a lot easier to get on with.

I Dig It
This excellent strong spade is angled to help leverage when digging, also the point helps break harder ground. It’s longer than expected but on the small amount I’ve dug so far seems fine (I’m a 5ft 5in female, 73 years). Metal Detecting
Forget spending silly money on Specialised Metal detecting spades. This thing is absolutely awesome. It’s nice and long so you don’t have to stoop and the angle is just right for sticking it in the ground, popping your foot under and scooping out the ground. almost perfect spade
It's great that this spade has a solid shaft and doesn't unscrew like my other fiskar spades, but I could do with the same spade only with a straight shaft. Its hard to drive this spade straight into the ground by standing on the top of the blade - it tends to scoop like a spoon so hasn't nearly so much poser.
