Coasters, sailing and motor barges, tugs, tankers, ORSVs and ferries are all part of the story of Crescent Shipping. It traces the origins of Crescent in the Gill familys Medway barge owning and building from 1849 and relates how this grew to become London and Rochester Trading Co. Ltd., and how it expanded to form the successful Offshore Marine Ltd. Tanker operator Bowker & King also comes into the story and, after the name Crescent Shipping was adopted, diverse vessels were managed, including ferries, ro-ros, and more coasters. The story is taken up to 2008 when the company and its fleet lost its identity in the Danish Clipper group. Sixty pages of history is followed by full details of 650 vessels owned, built, managed or otherwise associated with Crescent. The powered vessels are almost all illustrated, many in colour, as well as a selection of the sailing craft.
