Nice but takes care; good deal for the price.
This globe performs well; the discharge is bright and fills the globe. Its oscillator works at 17KHz and 10 Kv but may have cooling problems. My first ones oscillator died after being left on for about an hour. The flyback transformer secondary arced inside and shorted, apparently due to overheating. Replacing the transformer with one from an old tv set restored it, once the correct number of primary turns was found. This globe soon failed due to an error on my part; in connecting the new flyback, I had inadvertently pulled the high voltage wire away from the center globe and the loose end arced against, and eventually though, the glass stem, loosing the vacuum. Having learned a lesson I bought another one and plan to install a small fan in the base. Children love to play with it and with fluorescent and neon lamps that light up from the globes external RF field!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
