Good design; works very well
Made from sturdy black canvas and sewn with heavy-duty thread, the Anker solar charger also has a compact inner pocket (useful for storing charging cables) containing the little converter box with two USB ports. A little red light (between the two ports) turns on when the Anker solar panels are exposed to enough light to charge a battery.
Cleanly designed, lightweight, it's clearly a good quality item. Four hours of bright December sunshine in Palm Springs (CA) fully charged a Jackery 6000 mAh portable battery - impressive. One predictable caution: the black solar panels got very hot after four hours in the sun. One instruction with the Anker is "keep phones and tablets out of direct sunlight. Excessive heat may cause damage". So put your phones, pads and batteries in the shade.
The Anker could be improved by making the inner pocket from a light-coloured canvas, instead of black which gets very warm. And one last thing, the instruction sheet (same thing online) was very sketchy. It's not complicated stuff, but I couldn't find any info about the little red light - so that's why I mentioned it in the review and included a photo.
