Great upgrade part
Fits perfect and allows the gun to function like new . In comparison of the original part , this one is much thicker and has a larger sharp edge . Only complaint would be the lack of instructions . Fixed my stove piping
I used to hate my Remington 597 until I put this new extractor in. Works perfectly and is pretty easy to install. When you install the new extractor keep in mind that it is held in by a spring. Could spring out and fly across the room.

Great upgrades for superb little 22lr rifle
Top quality product. My rifle has a Volquartsen extractor in it but I have put A ton of rounds through it and I was experiencing alot of malfunctions and after inspection I found the tip of the claw was missing. I replaced the extractor and it is running fine now with no malfunctions. The Volquartsen hammer upgrade gave it a smooth, crisp trigger. It Really Works.
This product takes my Remington 597 & turns it into a reliable rifle. Before this product there were FTE's (failure to eject) every 10 round clip. Now they are gone. A new metal clip (the original clip was plastic) to eliminate FTF's (failure to feed) & I have not had a FTE, FTF, jam, stovepipe, etc. Well worth the price, I now shoot my Rem. 597, not leave it in the safe.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Wise up Remington!
I can’t believe Remington continues to sell the 597 with the same Remington extractor! My 597 since new was like every 4th or 5th shot from the 10 rd factory magazine had a fte. Now the only change I made was installed this Volquartsen extractor and after 400 rounds not a single fte! Now my 597 is actually fun to shoot. FTE and FTL no more
Had many failures with the Remington 597 over the years. Replaced factory extractor with the Volquartsen Exact Edge and problems solved. Saw FTE or FTL about every 3rd shot prior to fix. Saw 5 FTL errors in 80 rounds after fix; all were bent/damaged rounds from the bulk pack ammo (Winchester white box). Mannually loaded each failure and shot.
