A classic favorite among us latins for our babies!
Outside of the USA, there are different "baby" smells. In the US, you typically find everything perfumed with a baby powder type scent. But outside the US, most things are unscented and so we like to rub a little scented baby splash/cologne between our hands after bathing them and lightly pat this light and pleasant "baby scent" over their head and skin. This one is particularly popular in Cuba and Puerto Rico - "Violetas Francesas" - or French Violets, for many generations! Both my sister-in-law and sister are having babies this month and I bought one for each of them. Timeless...
I remember when my sweet Mother was a young lady with seven children and a husband to tend to, she used Violetas Francesas only for very special occasions. Church, visiting people in need. Houses with newborns. A little trip to town just her and my Father. We were very poor. Those were very hard times.
