Avoid, barely magnetic, just a time waster. Will work OK if you want to spend an hour finding a stud
Magnet is very weak, nearly impossible to find nails/studs. Thought it was completely broken while testing it as it wasn't finding any nails. Well it turns it out is just very weak, making it difficult/impossible to use, certainly not a time saver. I will be getting another "CH Hanson 03040" which I have had in the past but I lost it (its probably still stuck to a metal object where I last placed it), I thought I could save a few bucks and see how this one works,oops. On the other hand the CH Hanson worked great, I could just motion in big circles and it would start to pull itself towards the nails and then hangs there with much force..Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Cheapest one of these I could find. Works well. You do have to understand that it is not really a stud finder, it has a pivoting magnet that flips up straight in order to let you know that it has found a nail in a stud. What you have to do is run it back and forth across the wall, each time lowering it a bit until the magnet flips up, then you know you have found a stud. If you have a very strong magnet you could simply run it back and forth until it sticks.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
