Disappointing limitations in 2021
Doesn't seem to support large CF cards. Works perfectly well with my very old 96MB - 4GB cards, but could not recognize a 64GB card. Going to try it with a 16GB card when I get one in the mail, hope that one works! Firewire 400 is not that fast by modern standards (~50MB/s ideally), but it does beat the pants of USB 1.1 speed. Throughput is only 6.5MB/s on my 1999 iMac DV, even with an SSD installed, but that appears to be a system limitation and in the context of 1999 is faster than a 4x DVD drive. Honestly, if you need/want a firewire CF reader, spring for a FW 800 model, it is more likely to support newer, larger cards and will work at faster speeds in many mid to late 2000s machinesVerified purchase: YesCondition: New
