In 1950, Bahlsen was one of the first German companies to receive an export license. Initially they delivered to Switzerland, and two years later to America. The Barsinghausen plant opened its doors in 1959, Bahlsen expanded, and the Varel plant followed in 1963. The range on offer became ever larger; potato chips and peanut curls as well as various other snacks were now part of the range, followed by cakes. Company foundations abroad increasingly expanded the distribution of baked goods. In 1975 Werner M. Bahlsen (born 1949) the company's history passed into the third generation. In 1989 the company celebrated its 100th anniversary. Birthday. In 1994, the more than 90-year-old family business St. Michel / France (cakes and Breton biscuits) was added and just a year later, after the name.
