    Gives the freezer a new lease of life

    We were a bit worried that it would not fit as the handle is a slightly different shape to the one we took off. However, it has probably just been updated at some time as it is a perfect fit and seals well, so the freezer is not icing up any more. The handle feels as strong as (but no stronger than) the original one which lasted about 15 years. The door seems to have been modified slightly as well so that it is stronger than the old one.

    Odd original replacement, made and looks different

    I bought this on price based on it being an original product....it looks completely different to my original door and works differently. This replacement has a pivot handle, mine didn't. The seal on mine was flat from corner to corner, the replacement seal isn't. It bows out in the middle forcing you to have it closed tight on locking catch, so the corner of the seal actually seals. This makes the handle stick out slightly, putting strain on the door spring in handle. Even though it's sealed this way, so tightly, there is still an ice issue around seal... I must stress that is replacement door is better than my broken old door. Yes there is ice on housing where seal is but at least I don't have to clean entire compartment every week. My model FAB28X3. Just to state the old door has the 4star freezer logo in middle and the replacement where the hinge pins are.

    An unnecessary necessity

    As the hinge pin had sheared off the freezer Ice Box Door (for a second time I hasten to add); I had no choice but to order yet another 'small' door for the Ice Box Compartment of my SMEG Fridge, as the door was just hanging together mainly with the compartment freezing up, It was a very expensive SMEG accessory to an already expensive Fridge.

    Mixed views

    The product itself is plastic and prone to break at the hinges - it's the second replacement door I've had to order in 2 years. BUT it is cheaper than a new fridge (and cheaper than many other manufacturers' spares) and useful that replacements are available.

    Weak hinge

    My freezer box door broke at the bottom hinge so I ordered this one. Unfortunately, it arrived and the same hinge area was broken. I glued it together but it doesn’t fit as well as my original. I ended up gluing my old part back on my original aa well and it’s holding for now. So, now I have this extra door.
