My DYMO embossing label maker broke many years ago and I have been unable to label my plug tops since then, so I was glad to find this Brother H107B label maker on eBay. You need to order 6 Duracell AAA batteries as these produce the 1.5 volts per battery needed to power this thermal label maker. Rechargable batteries can only produce 1.2 volts when fully charged and so are not strong enough to power the heating element, so do not get either cheap or rechargeable batteries. You only get a sample of white thermal tape included with machine, so you need to order a set of tapes at the same time. The H107lB takes standard Brother EZ thermal tape which is easily available online. Third-party tape which is slightly cheaper works fine. I ordered "Wonfoucs Compatible T-H101c" six pack "won-231-33-6pk". The machine will print white on black tape as well as black on white. Thermal tape is available in a range of colours including pastel shades for art projects. The yellow tape is useful for warning notices on electrical items. Compared to an embossing label maker, this thermal printer is much quicker and easier to use. The photo shows the devices in my model railway layout room labeled up. The label on the left, marked LINDY was made with my now broken Dymo, and you can see the labels made with the Brother thermal label maker are much better.Read full review
