Small but powerful
I bought this to drill only 2 holes in my garden as to buy it was nearly as cheap as to hire it - I am pleased to say it did the job my garden has a very high layer of clay really tough nasty clay - I wanted to bore down low enough to get through the clay to sink a drain - this machine went through like a hot knife through butter 8inch auger down to about a metre - then I just couldn’t hold it and it was tough to pull out but put the 4 inch auger all the way down with the 600mm extension bar to about 1.4 metres amazing - but be warned it is powerful not for the faint hearted - however if your just putting posts in a 6inch hole about 18 inches down it will make short work of itVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Does a job But nothing special
Buying this product for the price I did I wasn’t expecting anything too good After one fencing jobs use (23 posts) the spike on the large drill bit is completely bent. The on off switch has also stopped working so you have to use the choke to turn it off It also rattled itself loose and the gearbox/ clutch came away from the engine but that could have been my error in assembling it Since putting it back together and tightening up it seems fine The engine runs well but I’ve found if you run it at full revs it’s very aggressive so be gentle with the throttle To rent an auger for the duration of the job was half the price so this machine only has to do 2 jobs to be value for money, Anymore and it’s saving me money I don’t expect it to last but unless you outlay a large amount on a known brand if say it’s value for money, just don’t expect miracles

Great so far but I live in hope.
I've as yet only done a couple of trial digs in a very clay based soil, went through down to 750mm like a knife through butter. It will be interesting to see how it fairs through a more stoney substrate, particularly how it would handle. Awesome machine
Having the task of digging 10 holes for 4x4 fence posts I decided to buy one of these and it paid dividends , absolutely fantastic bit of kit , well made , great quality , it really did save me hours of time and labour , you may have to dig any tree roots up or big stones if there in the way but once there out of the way your away , started first time every time , definitely the best garden machinery I have ever bought .Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Well engineered for the price.
Although mot the cheapest, for a mid-range hole borer it is robustly designed, and works well. One issue with hole borers is the handles. When working there is a lot of force through the handles, but these are robust and comfortable, and built so that it can be a two person operation in difficult terrains. I did have a problem with the engine which did not run at all when delivered, but this was accepted back with little fuss and returned quickly. It now runs nicely. Great machine
I bought this as I’m constructing a balance playground. The thought of digging the amount of holes I needed to - filled me with dread! Not anymore! This auger is great and makes light work of it. Really glad I went for it. Will come in handy for all sorts of other projects too.
