I will be purchasing a back up electric flea comb
I have two indoor outdoor cats and they get fleas when their flea med is about to run out but isn't time for more meds yet. This comb does not shock the cats as long as I stay on the larger surfaces like back, tummy, side and away from bends and skin folds and even if it does zap them, the zap is so tiny that they just do a tiny jerk and look wide eyed like "What tha heck!" but quickly return to the enjoyment. It has touched me by accident while briskly combing my cat but I barely felt anything. I get shocked from opening a car door in the wither time worse than that. I love it! My cats eyes perk up with excitement and roll over when they see me coming toward them with it. It makes a mild beeping noise to let you know the comb is on the ON position not to touch the metal teeth. I thought my cats would run when they heard the beeping but it doesn't scare them at all. The first time I combed them, I kept it turned off so the cat can see that the strange looking thing is wonderful, then I switched it on. Now when they hear me switch it on they meow at me to hurry and comb them. As I comb through the fur I do it in dim lighting so I can see the tiny electric pops (like a miniature bug zapper) each time it comes in contact with a flea. It's fun to watch! I don't focus on fleas that are stuck to the cats skin, I just come back to those later after they start traveling through the fur again, those fleas will get zapped eventually. This is a great electric comb! I enjoy combing my cats with it, the cats enjoy being combed and fleas are toasted! Seriously makes combing my cats fun.
