Looks great but time consuming
I'd heard a lot about soup makers from people at work. How great they are; you just put everything in and it does it all for you. Not this one. I'd looked on eBay and although these are advertised as used, they are sought after so despite the Which report my heart ruled my head and I bought this particular one because of the sauté feature and above all it looks stylish.
To use, you set the timer then have to press the buttons to sauté or stop sautéing; to stir; to heat up on high then to simmer. Lastly you blend it. And it's a viscous blender; so one second it's chunky; next it's smooth. The sauté feature is also fierce. I thought sauté was gentle but the oil and butter was spitting away after a few seconds. The bottom heat plate which is attached to the glass jar is not removable for cleaning. On first use; a drop of soup fell between the jar and bottom heat plate. Why it isn't removable is beyond me. The glass jar is similar in style to the Kenwood chef but thankfully less heavy. There is a measuring cup which sits in the lid. This can be removed during soup making to add extra ingredients. For me, it makes the soup maker slightly too high to fit under the cupboard on the work top. So I have removed it and it sits in a drawer. To clean the jar you add water and detergent and set to blend. The blades and jar are then washed with a bottle brush. I'm unsure how much I will use this despite being able to make sauces and curries in it. Now I can see why they're on eBay as used once.
