Small and easy to store. Powers on with a simple mobile phone charger and can be fully controlled remotely by SSH and RealVNC which is built into the RaspberryOS as standard. It is a great tool to learn multiple programming languages like Python, but is also a full blown computer which comes preinstalled with LibreOffice. It is so flexible that you can chose to use it to make a ;robot, a CNC machine, a 3d-Printer remote camera, manage your home security cameras, lift your garage door etc etc. I like to use on to replace my Playstation type video storage and playback, record collection etc. Its cheap enough and potable enough to allow all of this and there is a huge community of people all keen to help.

As with all things made by Rpi, it's odd. about 50% great 50% utter nonsense . 8gb of ram sucks close-to too much power from an already over strained design. I does 'work' and the 8gb is useful but is very picky about distro's and needs to be over-volted Beyond Warranty to use the performance gains you'll easily see on the 4gb version. . The lack of real expansion or fast data was an issue from the start and no better on this board. I'm glad we didn't pay full price, as with the 4gb boards, it need substantial support and peripheral development to get anywhere close to Any competitors SBC's and it has many. M4v2 for instance - mostly the 8gb version is there as 40 gbp extra money, from a 35 pound board. Added to which, pi4's are still on B silicon and unlikely to see upgrade for at least a year, if at all.. meaning all that ram is on their Slowest soc, with 1x3gb paging (C soc has 3x8gb) - as ever a weird bit of product-cornering from Rpi, but you should all be used to that by now ;o)Read full review

All the things that have made the Raspberry Pi great in the past, plus the thing it was missing the most: more RAM! If you've used a Raspberry Pi in the past, then you know what to expect, and you won't find this any different. As with the other 4s, make sure you have a good PSU that can provide 3+ A current. If you haven't used one before, be aware that this model can be significantly more expensive than one with less RAM, so you should consider if you really need it first; if you're just learning Linux/programming, you won't. This is not a desktop computer and you should not place the same expectations on it as on a £1000+ Mac, which many reviewers online unfortunately do.
