Great base level case from a manufacturer you can trust with your kit
I’m a record producer and touring singer/songwriter. I have three of these cases, which hold some of my most treasured instruments-my 1935 Dobro M32, my 1968 Gibson F-25 parlour guitar and my mid-90s commission built Perez classical guitar.
They’re very well constructed (like any Hiscox kit) and are perfect for domestic touring. I would rather fly with something like my SKB cases, but, having said that, a good friend and collaborator schleps his ‘74 Rickenbacker 330 all over the world in the electric version of this level of case. For my taste, these are perfect for domestic bus/van tours and will last a long, long time. For a hobbyist player, a lifetime.
The lining is plush crushed velvet in silver grey, which impresses straight away upon opening it. A friend of mine remarked “that looks like an angel’s a*se cheeks!”, which can only be a good thing to rest your pride and joy between...
I fully understand and accept that it’s hard to get excited about a case, and that’s absolutely why Hiscox gear is so good. It isn’t exciting or gimmicky, it won’t excite your central nervous system with stress about your guitar getting broken, it will just get the job done in a really professional way.
I think walking into a venue or studio with a Hiscox case kind of lends a bit of a “this person knows what they’re doing” vibe to proceedings. My late, great friend Jackie Leven always carried his Morgan dreadnought around in a Hiscox case, and if anyone in the world knew what they were doing, it was him.
Thoroughly recommended.
