    Superb, compact, desk-top/mobile scanner

Superb, compact, desk-top/mobile scanner. Pre-programmed bands ready for scanning out of the box. I don't live anywhere near the coast or airports, but by using an outdoor antenna on a 20ft pole, I'm hearing stuff from over 50 miles away. Obviously, if you live in a busy town or city, you're going to hear a lot more. I'm assuming that the "utilities, emergency, weather" channels will be the American frequencies .....but I haven't checked - lol They'll probably have to be "user-programmed" at some time in the future. Personally, I bought it for marine/airband scanning; and as far as that's concerned, I'm extremely happy with this little receiver.

    Unreciever scanner

I have want a scanner for some time, being familiar with Uniden I was confident. Very occasionally I pick up a brief transmission from a plane that's about it, I may invest in an antenna but not sure if I want to waste more money on it. No where is the frown emoticon?

  • Good for the price......

Not much to add to other reviews but works well when measured alongside my old and far more expensive Realistic 400. (Roof top aerial in use) Bit of practice needed to install your own database but you soon get the hang of it. It's surprisingly sensitive with a very clear tone, though a speaker is always a good idea. No military band but not needed for me so all in all a very good buy at the price. Worth shopping around on price.

  • UBC355CLT

Despite initial misgivings, I ordered this receiver anyway. I wrongly thought that being such a small unit it's performance would be mediocre. Wrong! This is, quite simply, a superb little unit. Excellent sound quality from such a compact piece of kit. Plug in, extend the aerial and away you go. It covers a wide range of channels which you can scan, lock in or dial up yourself. Simple to use, bright display, great reception and not much bigger than a fat paperback. Use the mains power unit or the 12 volt cable if out and about. I'm ordering a second unit for the vehicle so my current one can stay on the desk! Thoroughly recommended.

  • Great Scanner !!!

Purchased the UBC355CLT Scanner as I was looking for a small homebase scanner. I had purchased some weeks ago the UBC125XLT Scanner for when I was out and about. I used the 355 down at Bristol airport in my car, and the ease of use on the airband and clarity of the speaker was first class. I did use a steel whip Ariel not the standard one supplied with the unit. It has many more of its secrets to reveal yet... I would have no hesitation in recommending this scanner.... I

  • Small and fiddly...

My biggest criticism of this is it scans far too fast, the buttons are tiny and difficult to get at when you want to hold a requency, it could just be me but, as these units get smaller and more complex it's time to give up being a ham radio enthusiast.

  • Uniden UBC355CLT

Fantastic little scanner, works well on my outdoor Aerial (Scan king SE1500) But only does VHF (Civil Aircraft) if you want to Listen to the Military on UHF Then go for the Uniden BCT 15 X.
