  • Disturbing and disappointing

I vaguely remembered this from TV when I was 9. I wonder how much I actually watched. Watching this now, 40 years later, I found it rather disturbing & couldn't imagine its suitability for a pre-teen audience. It's a bit Wizard of Oz in the use of its characters, and this wasn't apparent in the first episode or two. Great actors were in this show, but some of the scenery & filming used newer techniques like CSO and looked like it was done on the cheap with real sets, but overall I found the DVD creepy and not really something I feel like rushing to watch a second time. What I did like was the old HTV West theme tune at the start of each episode. Such a shame this distinctive local channel that produced several memorable children's shows in the 70s and 80s was swallowed up into Granada then ITV
