PROPER music !!
A great selection of Mickeys work over the years. Mickey Jupp is a great writer and performer and in my opinion it is a travesty that he never became a household name. I always thought of him as the ' British Chuck Berry'

Fantastic Career Overview
Mickey Jupp is simply one of the most underrated writer/musician/singers we have in the UK. This box set is a superb collection of his work since the magnificent "Legend" album released on Bell records in 1969. Cannot recommend this set highly enough. A brilliant box from the marvellous Repertoire label.

A genuine Rock & Roll Genius!
I'd heard of Mickey Jupp over the years, primarily as he is held in such a high regard as a songwriter (Ricky Nelson, Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds, The Judds etc.), however until purchasing this collection I had no idea how special an artist he is. The quality on display in this box set is quite simply amazing. Although 1950's RnR and R&B are his main inspiration he is able to pull off a very wide array of musical styles, however they all have that definite stamp of quality and class, as well as the undeniable "feel" that made those original records so phenomenal. His voice is genuinely superb and his song-writing is up there with the very best - the regular comparisons with Chuck Berry give a good idea how special many of his lyrics are. I really could pick a load of personal favourites and the real difficulty is finding an inferior track. I must mention "Cross Country" for if it had been written by John Fogerty it would now be regarded as a rock classic and would be a staple of quality radio everywhere - no wonder the "Red Boot" album has been held in such high regard for so long by those in the know! The other great thing about this box set is that it has belatedly led me to purchase tons more Mickey Jupp and amazingly he maintains the high quality throughout his back catalogue. It's amazing how many genuinely great songs they managed to leave out. Do yourself an extra favour and track down the man himself via social media as he is still writing and recording demo's which genuinely shame the output of most better-known performers. The quality of his voice, musicianship and song-writing remains absolutely first class. Another box set of his demo's please! And why not a live box set too? The primary cause of his relative obscurity appears to have been his own personal choice (fuelled by a genuine dislike of fame and the underbelly of the music business) so the level of injustice is diminished slightly. Do yourself a massive favour and purchase this set as you will discover a genuine Rock & Roll Genius!
