  • Not what I expected, thank goodness!

As a massive horror fan and a completionist, when I discovered there was an 8th Leprechaun film a part of me died, I had just finished watching the previous 7 films which went from “not bad, I guess” to “please end me now” pretty quickly. The dread reached new heights upon finding out this new Leprechaun film was an SyFy movie… not something commonly associated with good quality . I was shocked to find myself thinking the film wasn’t bad, the recasting of the Leprechaun wasn’t bad possibly an improvement, the characters although basic were distinct, the kills were some of the best in the franchise, many of the gags landed and got proper laughs out of me. I actually enjoyed this film not only because it worked and provided entertainment but because it ignores all previous sequels, meaning the canonical franchise is just 2 films now! Result!
