Don't let the ants worry you.
For a movie which was hardly released in its time, and has been out of circulation for quite a while, PHASE IV is quite fascinating, and stands comparison to other quasi-documentary "cautionary" sci-fi tales of the time (such as the more widely seen THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN). However if one has an aversion to ants, this may not be the movie for you. (The amazing micro-photography almosts turns them into characters.) The print quality of this German edition is superb. It's unfortunate that the director's original cut has not been made available. Still even with the altered ending, it's provocative entertainment.
