Usual Manfrotto engineering (over-engineering?) quality. Looks and feels like it will do the business and do it all day long. And it will. The Super Clamp at one end is a Manfrotto product seen in many a studio and location setup. It's sure-footed totallt stable and reliable. At the other end is the 143 Quick Release system, another well-proven Manfrotto classic. In the middle is a cunning release system which when unlocked allows the two arm sections and the two ball joints complete freedom. Whatever is on it (lighting, camera etc) is then positioned exactly where you want it. It's a one hand job. With the other hand, lock off the set-up when it's in the right position by pulling the lever. It won't move. Quick and simple. Manfrotto point out that after a lot of use the arm might not lock-off as tightly as it did. It might thus 'creep' under the weight of heavy gear. No worries, Manfrotto provide two allen keys and very comprehensive instructions on how to restore the thing to it's 'as new' performance. Think of it as servicing. However, it's a pro spec bit of kit and 'a lot of use' in a working studio is indeed a lot. It's all day every day. The enthusiast might never need to tighten up this arm. I've had some heavy gear on it and it's rock solid. It's versatile. The Super Clamp will grip typical tubular rigs and tripods (up to about kitchen sink wastepipe diameter!) Fit the (supplied) wedge and it will grip rectangular/square sections and table-tops too.Get one and you'll probably soon wonder what you did without it. Don't confuse this with all the 'Go Pro' type camera articulated/flexible arms that are out there. Although they look similar in pictures it is an awful lot bigger, and of course a lot more money. They aren't rival products. The small arms won't hold heavy gear, and the Magic Arm would be total overkill for a GoPro.
