Seems to help offset some of the negative effects of kidney disease
I have had cats on this product for a few years due to kidney disease issues. I'm not all that well versed in how it works, but believe it helps to trap some of the build up of phosphorous that leads to nausea and vomiting. It's always a little hard to tell exactly how well a supplement works with an ailing cat, but I believe it does help at least somewhat, and is not harmful. Should probably be used in conjunction with amphigel (can buy it in powdered form and mix it into something like a bit of baby food (strained meat watered down). Can add the Epakitin as well. I don't get the sense it tastes really bad. Consider, also, some of the other kidney supplements on the market. Standard process has a kidney support tab that can be powdered up. B 12 (make sure it's one without bad additives...some additives are really harmful to cats...) can help pick up appetite. Can use Amino B Plex, which has iron, if constipation is not an issue. I do believe, while it requires some work, it's worth it to give your companion a few more good years!
