Crimp tool. External Hard Drive. Internal Hard Drive. SSD (Solid State Drive). Our vision?. Well, thats simple too - to be your partner for tech. Gadgets and Tech. This Star Tech.
Worked OK. I can really only compare it with one other RJ45 crimp tool, that one was a professional one, made by Extron. StarTech stuff is generally OK. It doesn't give you that "ratchet" feel and satisfying click to tell you when you've squeezed it far enough.
Not especially easy to set up - crimping RJ45 cables is fiddly. You've basically got to push 8 little wires into the correct holes which are about a centimetre away from where you can actually reach them. If you haven't got the patience, buy ready-made leads or get wall-mounted sockets that allow you to just push the individual strands into the connector.
I bought StarTech's own connectors, for which you can expect to pay £25-30 for a pack of 50. There are other cheaper ones, but whether it's false economy I couldn't say.
