In use as bedroom humidifier
I am not using this to provide drinking water for pets. Instead, it sits on a chest of drawers in a bedroom and comes on every night with a timer. It does not splash over the surroundings and the noise it makes is entirely agreeable (can't hear the pump, only the water movement). All the visible parts are ceramic so this model is not unsightly. I am using de-ionised water (available from eBay) to keep limescale at bay and an Aquamidas silver disc (also available from eBay) to keep the water free of bacteria. In this usage, I do not anticipate having to change the charcoal and foam filters very often. One advantage of this brand is that all the spare parts are readily available. So, when the pump fails, you do not wind up having to junk the whole unit. I imagine pets would like it too -- but I don't have any.
