Remarkable Speaker for its Size and Price

This was a remarkable speaker in its size and price class, when it was made back in the 1980s. I had one that I bought new for a shortwave radio audio system, which I no longer use. Recently, I needed a mate for a stereo application - a small computer audio system. This used unit fit the bill nicely, and I was happy to find it. You would not expect a speaker with a 4-inch woofer and a very small enclosure to have any real bass, and they don't. But, what they do have, after all these years, is amazingly clean, detailed sound, a natural tonal balance within their operating range, and a surprisingly-credible stereo image. Radio Shack's audio products were always hit or miss. The Minimus 7 was one of their best efforts - a real winner.

    Nice Little Speakers!

Although these speakers are probably around 40 years old, they are perfect as rear surround speakers in a.modest AV system, which is how I'm using them. They would have earned a 4-star rating but for the rust or oxidation on the bottom of one speaker (looks like it may have spent some time sitting on a damp surface). I am a big fan of the Minimus 7 series and feel that they deliver more than most people would expect from such a small speaker.

  • Minimus 7 speakers

Minimus 7 are very very good sounding. Not for the larger listening environments, but sound is right up there among the highest regarded speakers. Components are the same whether made in Japan, Korea, or Malaysia. And get Minimus 7 Crossover upgrade kit. A guy named Litekeys sells them on Ebay. Upper bass into the mid range sounds better with this mod. Bass is tight and full. At times you will be asking yourself - "Where is that low bass coming from? I don't believe my ears." Just dig the sound. And don't try to fill up a large room by cranking them up.

  • Realistic Minimus 7 Speakers- A Great Sound

Minimus 7 speakers have a very good sound to them. For a small speaker, they are worth the investment. Despite their age, they are really nice.
