Pull cord needs a tweak in the design.
Very quite fan. The pull cord has jumped out of the plastic guide a couple of times( I have three of these installed, it's not a one off) causing it not to work, but can be adjusted to be more secure, if it wasn't for this I'd give it 5 stars.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Quiet, efficient and handy!
I originally bought three Xpelair C4 fans: pullcord, timer and humidistat/timer ones. This review is for the C4PR version. The installation of the product is really simple; we have round metallic air ducts, so the fan can be just pushed in the duct and tightened with the quick fit clamps. The electrical wiring was not done by myself, but connecting the fan seems really easy. We didn't have any kind of air ventilation system in our house, only natural ventilation. This is why I bought one of these with a pull cord, and put it in one of the ventilation ducts. I use the fan on the low speed, on which it is really quiet (most sound comes from air flow rather than the fan itself).The airflow is sufficient, and the quiet operating noise is a huge plus. I did try to use it on high mode, but i had a resonance noise from the fan which was unbearable. The pullcord version is handy if you don't want the operation to be dependent on light switch. I can turn the fan off at winter if it causes too much draft. I don't use the cover on the fan. The fan would look more pleasing with the cover attached, but I have it installed at a place where one would not normally see it. The fan works much better without the cover, which is more true on the high speed setting. The noise is lower and because the air resistance is smaller, more air is pushed to the duct if the cover is not intact. Although the aesthetics do suffer from removing the cover, and I would not take the cover off if the fan would be in plain sight. I can't say about the longevity of the product, but so far (couple of weeks) it is working nicely and quietly on the ceiling. No real cons I can think of, not at least at this price point.
