Cold frames are used as the stepping stone for young plants between growing in a greenhouse to being transferred outdoors: if a plant is moved straight outside into the cold it can stunt its growth, so a cold frame is a great way to ease it into life in outside. The acrylic glazing of this practical cold frame is a safer alternative to glass that still lets plenty of light and warmth through. The two independently opening lids each have a prop so you can work without completely opening the cold frame and exposing your plants.

Wooden cold frame review.
Easy to put together, the wood has been treated and the parts fit together well. I pre drilled the wooden blocks that hold the perspex in place so they did not split. I am pleased with the overall finish and I am looking forward reaping the rewards.

Assembly instructions poor.
Opened the packaging and the parts appeared flimsy but were ok once assembled. My problem was with the assembly instructions. The parts in the packaging were completely different to the drawings in the instructions, so much so that when first assembled the lids would not fit. There were only instructions for the main carcass. The photograph on the front was no help as the fittings were different. None of this was a particular problem for a competent DIY'er but I still have two pieces of 1" x 1" left over and I have no idea what they are for!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
