A little battery tester in the boot is always a handy tool to have. For anyone just starting out with cars or you want to do the work yourself here's a few points. There aren't really instructions on the box on how to use it so here it goes. First off connect the negative clip to the battery, then take the positive probe to the positive terminal of your car battery. This will give the voltage of the battery at that time. To test the alternator you want to start the car, repeat above. You now have the alternator voltage. Unless your car is from around the 1960's or so your car is going to be negative ground/earth. Results came back fine with my cars charging system, battery would drop to 12.0V if left for nearly 2 weeks. A good simple tool at a good price, though wouldn't pay much more. Only gives battery and alternator voltage. More fancy testers are available, but then you are paying a lot more for mechanic tools.
