Daron Skymarks big A380 Display Model hits the mark.
This display model by Darin Skymarks looks fantastic. It is very heavy and very easy to put together and display, but because of its overall size, it requires quite a bit of room for display. I wouldn't recommend any children be allowed too touch or play with it. The detailing is very nice. Right down to the shape of the wings and body. Graphics are very crisp and highly detailed. The engines are pre attached to the wings. Therefore they need no attachment. However, when one assembles the wings into the fuselage, you must be very careful about those engines. Not allot of room for work, but they do slip into the slots easily enough. Same for tail planes. The only other assembly are the landing gear if you want gear down and the stand. The only negative thing about the model is the landing gear itself. Though not bad looking, it is slightly out of scale with the aircraft. It is also extremely delicate. The weight of the aircraft can be supported by the gear, but it's risky. Especially the nose gear which is entirely too unstable. The rubber tires do roll, but I don't recommend rolling the model around. Its not meant as a toy. If you look at real pictures of the A380's landing gear and compare it with what Skymarks did, you'll see what I mean. Think about a 6 foot man standing right next to the gear in scale. It looks off. The other thing is the gear doesn't swing. The main gear ought to be in a position for landing or takeoff. Other then that, the gear looks decent. The entire model takes 5 to ten minutes to assemble from in boxing to display. One other note. The fan blades in each engine are supposed to turn. They can, but appear to get somewhat stuck. Not a deal breaker, but worth noting for those who like details that function as stated. The Airbus A380 House colors look incredibly beautiful. The model is shiny and very large at 1/100 scale. She requires allot of room for display and once again this is not a toy. Cost was within parameters of what one should expect too pay for such a detailed and heavy model.
