Ideal for collectors.
It performs the function of identifying colors of stamps and tagged stamps at a reasonable cost. Not high in quality but a collector is not utilizing it that much. It works OK; poorly designed.
It works OK. No instructions on operation of the device or installing batteries, no identification of positive and negative poles in battery compartment. The UV light that works well for the US Stamps.
This UV light was helpful in identifying what US Stamps were counterfeit in my collection. This one has the recommended UV band that works to reveal the green glow of all the legitimate stamps. The lamp worked really well out of the box. The battery compartment is for 4 AA's and it was a bit rigid to get them in, but they do fit. The light switch is a bit flimsy, but it works well. The seller got it fast to me and it was well packed in the package to prevent damage. The light is also in a bubble wrap in the box.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Look elsewhere
Comes with absolutely no instructions nor how to best use it. Lighthouse Support would not even resond to my request for more info. The long wave is really weak -- just a small flashlight like bulb on the front. I had to return the first one DOA. Second one works barely. Works but not powerful, poor switch design
Needed a short and long wave UV light for stamp collection to determine which stamps are "tagged" with phosphorous markings. The lamp does that but the short wave aspect of the light is not strong at all and you need to make sure that the room is dark or use it extremely close up. For not being a cheapo lamp I expected better. Also, the switch is a bit wonky and does not "click" into place so be careful to not accidentally leave it on and kill the batteries.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
