Good value and versatile.
A perfect match for my OM-D E-M5 Mark, 2. Closed it is as thick as a pancake lens, meaning that the camera with the lens fitted could be slipped into a jacket pocket. Fully extended it is comparable in length to the standard 14-42mm kit lens with the added benefit that you don't have to unlock and lock it manually. Compact micro 4/3rds lens
I purchased this for use when weight and size were an issue, intending to use my Panasonic 14-45 lens for ultimate performance. However, I cannot see any difference in performance except that the larger lens has a slightly longer maximum focal length. Good results
Despite some reviews saying this lens is not sharp, I have had excellent results. obviously not as good as a prime or a Pro lens but this is a very small lens. The size and weight allows me to carry my OMD M5 in a pocket so I'm now never without a camera. It's also worth getting the self closing lens cap. The Olympus one is ridiculously expensive, I bought the JJC one from Amazon. Good quality does the job at a fraction of the cost.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

A lovely little lens
A lovely small lens. It has made my Olympus OMD mk 5ii more pocketable than it was. Not a lens for very low light or night time, because it is not very bright, but you can easily compensate for this by increasing the ASA. Turn your M5 into a pocket camera
I first saw this lens on a new M10 mkII , I was amazed at how "convenient" the lens made the camera. Easy to pocket, good resolution (compared to a lot of compact zoom cameras) and fantastic movie performance. This lens has an almost silent electronic zoom which is great for videos. You can even alter the zoom speed from the M5's menu. This lens has transformed my M5 use, rather than lug around a camera bag and bulky zoom lenses I can either hang it around my neck and look like a tourist (which I probably will be at the time) or tuck it into a pocket or under my arm. With this lens you really need to get a spare battery because you'll want to keep the camera ready for those candid shots (switch off that nuisance "quick sleep" mode) OK it may not be up to pin sharp resolution or very fast (use IS and you can go down to ridiculously slow shutter speeds) I have other lenses for "serious" photography, but I know which one will be on my M5 most of the time, to me this is what micro four thirds is all about.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Pancakes - perfect travel lens
I purchased this 14-42 lens despite having a similar 14-54 pro lens simply as I was going to be carrying the body and lens for a week in Florence and would be using it in some of the best art galleries in the world and didn't want to compromise the performance of my OM-D M-1. fantastic little lens.
This is a perfect size of lens for my OM-D EM10. When the camera is off it compacts down so the the whole camera fits in my coat pocket. The front Lens cap is tiny and easily lost so I got the auto open/close alternative which is fantastic. My last Olympus 14-42 lens stopped working in that it wouldn’t move at all, so this is a replacement one for my OMD camera.
