Teak is naturally very high in oil content. Due to this high oil content and in certain temperatures and humidity, a slight furring / blooming may occur on the surface of the wood. It simply wipes off with a damp cloth.

    Java teak seat review

    47 years ago I bought an iroko bench made by Harringtons. I have looked after it well and it is still in good nick. It is now rather too heavy to carry about when needed in a different position. I debated which additional seat to buy for a long time and decided on another good quality bench at a fair price. It was easy to order via ebay and it arrived quickly as promised in 4 pieces in a tough carton. Assembly was easy having read the instructions (I am getting older and wiser!). The bench was described as ‘chunky’ and it is. It is a good shape to sit on and spacious for 2 people and looks very good on the patio. I will let it weather till next year before considering treating it. With care using modern exterior wood treatments I expect it to easily outlast me. All in all it looks to be a good buy. 2 tiny negatives - the PVA glue bottle had only a tiny bit of PVA in it and this appeared to be already set up so I used my own; 2 of the dowels bedded down with about 5mm remaining proud. All the others were fine.

    Good quality product, there are one or two splits in it but it said on the instructions this is possible and nothing to worry about. I gave it 2 good coats of oil before fixing together. You will need a bit of wood filler to cover screw holes to complete the overall finish. Very happy with my purchase

    Good quality solid teak wood. Well constructed. Needs assembling partially, not difficult. Mainly hammering pegs into holes with glue. Protecting it with teak oil greatly improve its finish and durability.

    Java teak bench

    I ordered two benches. They arrived on different days despite being despatched at the same time. The first bench was really easy to put together but the second was very fiddly as the joins did not match up. It took us a couple of hours to eventually sort it out. Despite that I am pleased with the benches. They are very well made, solid and will last for ages . they look really smart.
