I have been a Machinist for many years and have had many different Scribes. This one has a steel body and a bit of weight to it that gives it a good feel and I really like that. The tip is sharp and cuts lines well. With the steel body the tip is very stable and does not feel loose. It is very good value.

These scribes are cheap. They look and feel cheap. I got four of them, one end was loose and fell out. Any of the short comings were over come easily. If you're ordering these you need to do some engineering of some type. So loctite a fixed the loose tip back in. The ugly cheap feel was whisked away with a quick spin in my lathe to smooth and shape to a pleasing design. There is not a lack of material on these scribes so reducing the stems gerth by half you still have a hefty solid scribe. All in all I am pleased with these after my mods. Before hand they would have been like holding a heavy HB pencil with sharp edges. Tape, heat shrink or lathe milling will sort the sharpness. The carbide ends are able to mark out key steel easily so sharp enough and hard enough for me.

handy tool to have for metalworking or plastic, reversable tip & spare tip included helps, I needed to sharpen it ever so slightly as the point wasnt in the centre, but this was easy with a small grinding wheel, it also showed that although quite hard it could be resharpend several times before reversal making replacement a long way off. good length, fits in the hand well, barrel just thick enough for big fingers, shiny so you can find it amongst the workbench detritus or use the pen/pocket clip.

It's not nicely machined or finished, the pocket clip barely fits, the spare insert looks like it was assembled by the work experience boy. But it does work, at least it has a few times. For a couple of pounds it's fair enough though. I guess you get what you pay for.
