I bought Tropica Aquarium soil after having used it in another low tech., tank and been very impressed. I wanted to change the inert gravel in my aquarium to Aqua soil but as I was unable to remove the fish I didn't want a soil that would leach ammonia, After removing hardscape I carefully removed half the old substrate and lowered the water level to below half, then carefully poured in the Tropica Aquarium Soil to a depth of 5 cms., I replaced hardscape, planted lots of stem plants and filled the tank. It was murky but cleared by next morning when it was gin clear, I did daily water changes first week, fish are fine and plants growing. Highly recommend this soil.
