Reliable, flexible and sturdy mac laptop.
A sturdy and reliable workhorse. The i7 quad-core processor makes it zippy, and an SSD speeds everything up even more. The one I bought was still in perfect working order even at 8 years old. The big advantage of the 2011/2012 models is you can fairly easily upgrade them with more RAM and new hard drives/SSD, while the more recent models have mostly hard-wired components which makes them much less tweakable. Also you can get kits to replace the Superdrive with a second hard drive, giving lots more possibilities. 2011 model here only has USB 2 sockets and can only support up to High Sierra, whereas the 2012 model has USB 3 and can be updated to Catalina. Only downside is that the metal casing is far too easy to scratch, so you need to handle it carefully.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Exceptional for it's age.
Considering this Macbook is nearly 8 years old now, it arrived to us in what can only be described as excellent condition with only a couple of marks underneath. Only issue I had was that the fuse had gone in the plug of the charger supplied with it (no biggie tho) Keyboard is a pleasure to type on and trackpad is great. Don't pay crazy apple prices. Works well until the graphics card fails
This MacBook Pro model (late 2011) is severely flawed in that it suffers from graphic card problems. Apparently, the soldering within the card was faulty. Apple had been forced to start a free repair programme which is now over. When the card fails, the laptop is no more than an expensive paperweight. However, I have been told that there might be ways of disabling the graphics card and relying only on the graphics on the Intel processor. Really useful Macbook
Having a quad-core i7 processor, 16Gb of RAM, a built-in DVD and multiple interface ports makes this a really versatile and useful Macbook.
