Not an original OSRAM, but serves it's purpose!

The original OEM lamp of my Benq w1080ST died after 4,060 hours of lamp life after 2 years and 4 months of heavy use (gaming), at varying environments (Maryland cold, Philippines humid, California summer). This particular product does not come with an OSRAM lamp (OEM is OSRAM P-VIP 240/0.8 | E20.9n). The lamp differs from the original in various ways. Even though this came with a generic-looking lamp with no markings, the brightness / lumens required for enjoying the projector is achieved. One difference I noticed is that this lamp takes longer to achieve it's target brightness on cold start-up compared to the original OSRAM lamp, which becomes bright noticeably faster on start-up. In any case, this is great for the price, especially with the included housing! I will probably purchase an original OSRAM bare bulb as my next backup, but this is great value!

A bit tricky but works well

I had some trouble installing this lamp but I am not sure if the original would be any easier. I was not able to quite fit the lamp and ended up breaking a tiny piece of the lamp off from it (there is a tiny piece which is supposed to lock it in place). Fortunately I dont seem to need that piece and was able to fit the lamp once that piece broke. To my eye the image on my projector is as good as ever but my lamp was burned out for a few months so I cannot make an exact comparison. Looks good to me.

  • not genuine BUT gets the job done

At first glance you can see the lamps joints between the glass part and the porcelain (I think) part are glued together using a hard glue like but very firm substance. You can tell it was manufactured this way and not broken then fixed or something like that... This is the way it's supposed to be I think. I've been using this lamp for a week or so. Before this I had an original Osram lamp. lasted 3200 hours and then exploded. Both are made in China so I said what the heck right? Up till now, great performance. I can see an increase in total brightness. and the projector noise is less noticeable (I don't know if this is because of the new lamp or maybe because when I took apart my pj I cleaned it really well all around). The lamp does take a minute or so to reach max brightness but the low price justifies this. this doesn't bother me. Up till now I'm very satisfied.

  • Seems as good as OEM

Lamp blew on my BenQ W1070 and I thought I would give this a try. It came in quickly (2 or 3 days shipping) and looks just like the original except it doesn't have the Osram writing on the bulb. So far after about 50 hours it is doing just great! Picture is nice and bright. Hopefully it will last as long as the OEM bulb. If it comes anywhere close to lasting as long I'll call this a great deal.

  • Hope it last, can't beat the price, 610 Hrs dead

So far so good, just installed a couple of days ago. Original lamp had 6157 hrs, I've never seen anything like it and I've been doing projectors for 20 years. This lamp lasted 610 hours, very disappointed.

  • Generic Lamp NO GOOD!!

This lamp was very poor quality. It caused my projector to overheat and cut off. The description claims that it is from the manufacturer BenQ but is is not. I emailed pics to BenQ and they confirmed that it was a generic lamp. Very annoyed and would not recommend!

  • Will not work in my benq w1070

Tried 2 different lamps and had the same problem, bulb will start up but then starts flickering. Had to suck it up and by a factory bulb. Lesson learned company I dealt with was very good. I think on these cheaper bulbs it is kinda hit or miss.

Easy to install. Works great so far. Picture wise no difference from original. Definitely buy another for back up.
