I am using three 6N4-J tubes in a Jolida 1703 hybrid amplifier as 12AX7 replacements. Surprisingly, (IMO, YMMV) they offer improved clarity and focus, compared to the previously installed favorite old stock 5751 tubes! Although NOT listed as a 12AX7 replacement, depending on the application, they may work fantastically. Prior to use, I'd strongly suggest (no, I didn't in this case, but several weeks in use [after 1 week of constant on for burn-in], so far so good) checking with the manufacturer, or an audio authority you trust.

The branding or type print differed from the picture. I'm not sure if its exactly the same product, but generally accept it.

replaced 40 yr old tubes...all 4 of this type and got much better sensitivity on 1964 citation tuner...maybe it made a difference bigger than I can see on the sensitivity meter...happy I did. it.

The 6N2P-EV tubes are a very interesting tube. They're heralded by Lampizator as excellent tubes. I bought them and tried them out first in a couple of amplifiers. They were noisy and didn't work terribly well. Some deoxit and burn-in later, and they actually work quite well. But I didn't get them for an amp, I got them for a dac. I put them in my MHDT Labs Atlantis using an adapter and these brought the soundstage in spades. Truly, the biggest soundstage of the two dozen tube variants I've tried in the dac. They hit hard in the bass and are highly detailed as well. The treble is a bit much for my treble-sensitive ears, but you can tame it in a tube amplifier. They seem to require about an hour of warm-up with each use before they reach full detail. Very interesting tubes that I'll keep in my collection since they're so inexpensive and offer an out-of-your-head soundstage.Read full review

Hey, I wasn't even aware of my amps' deteriorating sound per se ( I was having to tweak it a lot right before the old tubes went...turns out I was running on one tube on my distorted channel) I put these tubes in an she just sounds great...actually better than when I first got it. Yeah, I say these are good tubes.....

One of the strongest pre amp tubes made for gain , very even tempered frequencies but the mids and bass are a little stronger and bold. Not a bright tube so its better suited for guitar or bass amps . I use this as a tube to push the overdrive tube or as a overdriven tube ! Some combo amps may cause microphonics to occur but I use heads mostly so no problems. These are much stronger than new production tubes in my opinion. I like the bass they have , its got punch !

Pretty happy to get these tubes and thanks to the Tube King I was able to read up and make a good choice due to his sharing of great knowledge. Thanks for making it easy for me

These tubes provide a warm powerful preamp sound that's all about warmth and smooth overdrive re-production. Can't go wrong with Mullard. I could never find them in an affordable price range in the past, I'm glad I kept watching for 'em. Get yourself a set!

Swapping this tube for the 12AX7 in the preamp position 1 of my Vox AC10C1 greatly broadened the working range between clean and overdriven tones, with increased sensitivity to pick attack and volume control dynamics. A good price for a quality vintage 5157.

Although a used article (2 X matched same codes Telefunken ECC83 (12AX7) tubes/valves) the performance remaibns stunningly accurate and worthy of being described as a strong product. Unlike Amperex ECC83/12AX7 made in Heerlen Holland with D foil getters (rated an excellent tube) these Telefunkens rather than yielding a sound wrapped in a slightly warm presentation without any sense of space, the Telefunkens produce a musically accurate and spacious reproduction of classical music. It must be said that to get this performance one needs to use E88CC Ca gold pins Telefunken tubes/valves in conjunction. A similar result may be ontained with Siemens & Halske early E88CC tubes.
