The perfect Planisphere for 45'N (MN, WI, MI, ND, SD, MT, etc.)
Good quality, very legible. While most Planisphere devices are designed around even latitudes (30', 40', 50'), the Night Sky offers a 40'N - 50'N version, which centers on 45'N (typically, a planishphere is accurate for +/- 5' latitude).
This 40'N - 50'N version is perfect for viewers in the northern hemisphere that fall along the same latitude as St. Paul / Mpls, MN. In terms of accuracy, this is the best Planisphere device for those of us in the upper-northern USA. If your latitude falls within 45'N +/- 5', then this is the choice.
My only quibble is that it could be a bit larger, for those of us with aging eyesight. I would welcome a full 12" diameter model for an appropriate price. I've never tried the small 6" models, but I suspect they might be best for young people with good eyes. Else, a magnifying glass might help.
Helps ID constellations, but few large stars ID’d. Plastc construction should not be affected by dew and its flexible enough to bend without warping. For myself, a novice backyard astronomer, this should assist with telescope alignment and learning the primary constellations.
