This is a decent bit of kit. It looks great and sounds decent. These are around 15 years old now but cost around 800 quid when they were new so a used one will be a bargain because amp technology hasn't changed a great deal over that time. 5.1 is still standard for home theatre even though more esoteric systems are available with more channels. It provides a neutral sound overall, though the bass doesn't hit anything like as hard as it did with my previous Sony receiver. This is disappointing for me but my wife prefers it as she doesn't like big heavy bass. I bought this primarily to fit into a small space as standard 17 inch separates will not fit in my TV cabinet without a struggle. Be warned though, the depth is massive and it goes back so far that I now can't fully close the glass door on the cabinet. Where teac have shrunk the width they've simply made up for it in the depth. More recent models seem to have solved this problem so take this into account if you intend to buy one!
