The investigation leads them to the remote Caribbean island Matul, where they are thrust into a life threatening battle with an army of flesh-eating zombies. Horror maestro Lucio Fulci's (THE BEYOND) visceral 1979 film paved the way for the early 1980s Italian zombie and cannibal craze. The movie was titled ZOMBI 2 in Europe to cash in on the success of George A. Romero's DAWN OF THE DEAD, which was produced in Italy as ZOMBI by Dario Argento.

Genuinely uncut version
I remember seeing this film in the early 1980s, before it was banned in the 'video nasty' crackdown. Even then it had been quite heavily cut by the censors. Also, the film is presented in its original 2.35:1 aspect ratio. This release, however, is the complete uncut version and, yes, the (in)famous eye piercing scene is there in full! along with the rest of the missing footage. Good extras on the second disc include a lengthy interview with star Ian McCullough and brief discussions about other Italian horror films from that era..Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

DISGUSTING AND VILE, BUT LOOKS SUPERB IN THIS BLURAY EDITION
Superb edition from Arrow Video. Utterly disgusting movie! Why do I watch these things? Why does anyone? How does this add to the sum total of human happiness?
