Once more, a wise-guy teenager tries to prove he's smarter than any adult-and nearly destroys the whole world in the process-in WARGAMES. Computer-game aficionado Matthew Broderick inadvertently taps into a hush-hush Pentagon computer, then proceeds to inaugurate his favourite game, Global Thermonuclear War. What we know, but Broderick doesn't, is that the Pentagon, hoping to eliminate the chancy human element in the event of an actual war, has given its computer total, irreversible control over the launching of nuclear weaponry. Bluray shines for Wargames
Amazing value for a classic film. Whilst their is some graininess in some shots, and that is probably due to low light of old graphics/titles, this is an exceptional film and at this price you cant go wrong, Excellently editing, the graphics (actually monitors that projected the image straight on to glass screens... this is pre CGI folks! Stand up incredibly well. What I am saying is watch the supplementary material to appreciate just how great the sfx are, and that they stand up to 2019 scrutiny. Excellent story. Excellent value. And blu-ray to boot! I would definitely recommend for a 1983 feature. And the story! Intelligent and gripping.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

War Games 80' classic
I love this film although the premise that you could easily hack into the pentagon's main frame computer, even in the mid 80's when computer hacking was in its infancy. Great story, some serious understanding of how computer hacking was capable in the early 80's & some excellent cinematography. One of the best 80's family films. I'm still amazed at the set, after all these years it stands up against modern CGI fakery very well. The storyline was of its time, as this was the height of the cold war.
