A superb, unpretentious, film with a first class cast. This is an only slightly fictionalised account of the murders of James Cheney, Michael Schwermer and Andrew Cheney, workers for the Congress Of Racial Equality, by members of The White Knights Of The Ku Klux Klan in Neshoba County, Mississippi during the summer of 1964. These were murders which the state authorities, incredibly, refused to prosecute. It finally fell to the federal authorities to bring charges, and even then not entirely successfully. Sadly, in my experience, the attitudes displayed here are still far too evident in so many people and countries even fifty-five years later!
