Excellent Item
I waited a few weeks before writing this review to be sure I was describing my product experience accurately. Having never used a NEO2, the user guide was enough for me to quickly figure out how to use the basic features of the NEO2 processor. It's compact enough to take almost anywhere; this was the reason for my purchase. It's lightweight and unlike a laptop, I don't have to wait for it to boot up before I can begin working. I've only charged it once when I first got it and the battery is still full after approximately 40 hours of use. I was able to go online to easily find instructions on how to use the text to voice unit and the receiver. After sending an email to Renaissance, they replied promptly with a link to an updated download file for the NEO Manager so I utilize the rest of the features with my desktop computer. Great tool for note taking
The Alphasmart Neo2 is perfect for taking notes at meetings, or writing journal entries, which is why I bought it. It's less cumbersome than a laptop, has a great keyboard, and has a long battery life. It's not a replacement for a computer (you still need a computer to download, format, edit and print what you wrote), but it's great for people like me who have illegible handwriting, write slowly with a pen, and can type fast. Great inexpensive word processor
This gadget is light, extremely portable and provides a full size keyboard. Compose documents anywhere and the batteries last forever (Years, anyway!). Connect it to a computer, open a document and place the cursor, hit the "send" button on the keyboard and this little gem starts typing everything you wrote into the computer. Great machine very portable
I like to take this little machine with me when I go somewhere, I can write what I want to on it and when I get back to my desk top I just load it into whatever document in word I want it to go . Great Writing Tool
What a great little writing tool, especially if you suffer from distraction when trying to write. This Alphasmart Neo2 is as close to a "universally compatible" device as anyone has ever made. You upload your work to any computer by plugging in a USB A to USB B cord from the device into your computer, or even smartphone, accessing the file you want to upload, and pressing the "send" key. A low cost solution for writers
The big trend right now is "distraction free" writing. This device, once used in schools before tablets got cheap, does just that. A good keyboard, OK (but not backlit) screen and long battery life. It uses acommon USB cable to essentially re-type what you wrote into a PC running a word processer, etc. A much better value than the $500 devices now on the market. Do not expect to print from this, fully format a document or add photos, boldface, etc. That is done later. Near-perfect condition
Looks brand-new except for some barely visible scratches on the screen which do not impact your ability to type in the least. Good Machine; Check Cable When Purchasing
I like the Neo2; it is handy and great when inspiration strikes. The space key sticks a little when typing, but it’s not a hassle to deal with. My only complaint about this product was that the seller had said it was cable tested and sold it with a cable. While the cable that was sold with the Neo2 had the proper ending to fit into the machine, the base attached did not sit flush against it. As a result, it was not able to make a connection to my computer because the connection itself was unstable. We are using a printer cable cord in the meantime, which works fine.
