Deep cup - Dark/Mellow sound
This is an excellent take on the traditional cornet mouthpiece. I found that with my "C" cup mouthpiece, my horn had a brilliant tone - much like a trumpet. I inserted this mouthpiece into my horn and the tone took on a mellow/dark tone. The short shank means that I do not have to adjust my tuning slide between mouthpieces. For playing with a group of trumpets, I will use my "C" cup style. For solo or Jazzy work, I like the darker sound of this one. The deep "V" style is very similar to a Flugelhorn mouthpiece, and although my cornet sound IS mellower and darker with this mouthpiece - not as mellow as the Flugel, The sound is between my "C" cup mouthpiece (trumpet like) and the Flugel. The price is excellent, and being a major name - should my mouthpiece come up missing - easily replaceable.
