    vw exhaust clamp removal tool

i when't to lots of garages and they would not do the job because they said i needed a v w tool , so got one off ebay and when i when't back and they said they need a v w tool to do the job i told them i had one, they took a look and said were did you get it ,as they hadn't seen one in years ,i told them ebay, anyway the guy used the tool and said that it was great and easy to use and very strong and said he couldn't have done the job without the tool and they wouldn't have taken the job on, so money well spent.

  • Most critical review

Poor Quality and nont fit for purpose

The first time of using it fell apart. One of the rawl pins fell out and couldn't be found. The main bolt through the centre bent with no force at all. Difficult to tighten or loosen due to the poor quality of the materials and threads. Threw it in the bin a complete waste of money.

  • DO NOT BUY

Initially appeared to be a good level of quality. however upon attempting to use this on the first of two exhaust clamps it failed. It is clearly not engineered to a level that enables it to carry out the job required of it. It failed in such a way that I could fit the exhaust clamp, nor could I remove it from the clamp. It had to be cut apart. The only good thing about it was the legs that I cut off and used to make my own. Not impressed.

  • Cheap and it shows.

Have had 2 of these and both times they do one clamp then just lock up in place. The idea is good but the item is just badly engineered with really cheap threads so it just pulls out of line and then I assume cross threads.

  • Managed to get 2 clamps just about, but ...

Managed to get 2 clamps just about, but was very difficult to use. Under tension it was very difficult to loosen. Upon the second clamp removal, it was impossible to loosen and the broke.

  • Avoid

I tried to use this item for the first time and it immediately snapped the bolt pins. Reducing it to scrap. Poor quality item.

  • Excellent

Having read scathing reviews about this tool I was dubious whether to buy it. But cheap enough so why not. Turns out to be top drawer. I don’t know how others have had problems as it worked a treat for me . Recommended tool for those utterly stupid vw exhaust spring clamps . Cheers

  • Not good enough strength to get the job done

Not very good as it’s soft metal so it doesn’t really get the job done
