    Good value and easily finished

A crown board would be good but easily made from a small piece of plywood, The roof is a little tight but could bend it very slightly to a good fit. Do please put together accurately. For the future a 6 frame would be great even at an extra cost just to allow a frame feeder space. No t sure if it was marine ply but gave it a couple of coats of Ronseal woodstain to make sure it was waterproof.

    Simple cheap bee nuc

I was very pleased to order three of these. They arrived very quickly. Great packaging with easy to follow assembly instructions. The nuc’s themselves look great put together. They certainly aren’t made from anything substantial. The ply used for the floor and walls is far too thin to last or any good for keeping bees warm. That’s my main grumble. By I guess you get what you pay for at this price. I’ve treated the wood all round, but I still don’t expect they will last long outside. The frames also shake about in the box as the dimensions are too big internally. One of the three nucs needed the frame rails cutting with an angle grinder so it would fit. Not the end of the world I guess. I think they’d be useful to me for collecting swarms as they are light weight, but realistically they are not a long term nuc in my opinion.

  • Nuc / trap box

Excellent, east to build and quite lightweight.Ideal for use as a trap box or collecting swarms. Not too sure if I would want to over winter a Nuc in this box, but still very good value.

  • I found this flat pack very straight forward to build

This was very easy to put together and when finished very strong and good looking. Good price, good for swarm trap.

  • Good VFM

Excellent value nuc. Arrived quicker than advised. Not yet assembled but looks straight forward. I will definitely be treating the wood before use as it will definitely soak up the wet if used untreated.

  • Avoid

Lid is too tight to remove without annoying bees and would struggle in cold weather. Pay the difference fir a decent one. This is more like a cheap travel box. No ventilation. Entrance hole tiny

  • Take me to a swarm.

Good value, easily put together and it all fits. But there are no nails supplied and nothing to say what size nails to use. As a precaution I used a small drill bit to make a pilot hole and prevent splitting. The lid is bare sheet metal so use for a small colony might be restricted..

  • Nuc hive

Not used yet. Very simplistic but fine for the money. Although no crown board.

  • Not as advertised do not buy

This is not a nuc. It is more like a travel box. No board in the top just a metal roof. Had caught a swarm & had no choice but to use it. 24 hours later the bees were cooked & dead.
