Excellent quality Lightcribe easy to install works staight out the box
One of the most easy to install pieces of hardware l have ever had to install on my Windows 10 PC, no complicated instructions installation process. Just plug it in and away you go. You will need a LightScribe software program if you want to use it burning LightScribe on to discs as well, Nero Platinum has LightScribe integrated it and it works very well with it. For DVD DL isn't right the option.
For the price we can't expect an higher performance product but it does it job. It runs well, it's easy to use and it's lighter but have things that needs to be improved. Could have a built in longer cable and the open knob could be more accurate or be placed in other position more easy to be used. What does not work very well is DVD DL, double layer. Slim, Neat design, easy to use
Plug and Play item was recognised immediately by my LINUX OS installation, the cable folds away neatly into a channel and USB plug holder in the underside of the drive. Exceeded my requirements
I can remember a time when a product like this was very expensive indeed,how things have changed,and much more for the better,on the box it says “ plug and play “ it certainly is and does,it reads,writes/burns discs exceedingly well,and very quickly too,it’s a much more economical way of replacing your faulty internal dvd rw laptop drive,it certainly works just as well as my internal dvd rw drive did,so on that note I’m more than happy,it’s actually very quiet when playing/burning discs,and works great when in cahoots with CD burner xp,no need to find or update any drivers to get this operable,plug in then play just like it says on the box,ive burned both audio and data cds with no problem at all,a lot of people who’ve bought this have said the usb cable is to short but it’s not a problem with where I’ve positioned it but depending on how you have your set up it could be as it is rather on the short side,the cable actually folds up underneath which I found to be quite nifty,when ejecting discs the slot comes out about 5 inches meaning no pulling it out manually to get hold of your disc which is another plus,it has a nice cosmetic appearance that matches nicely with my laptop of the near identical colour,i like everything about this little drive as you can probably tell by reading my review,and it definitely gets a recommendation from me,i only paid £11.99 for this device and because of its performance I honestly would have been just as satisfied had I paid double the price for it because it performs so well,the last time i bought an external dvd drive when i had a desk top set up over 10 years ago i paid considerably a heck of a lot more for one,and bearing in mind the set up process back then installation,configuration etc was frustrating to say the least,it shows just how much easier and simpler technology is user friendly than back then,this is a worthy purchase,take a punt you’ll be getting a bargain and you won’t be disappointed,I have regarding the former and I’m not regarding the latter,so yes a great inexpensive worthwhile purchase.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Not compatible with Windows 10
This is Tsstcorp copy. Bankrupt in 2016 there are no drivers available for Windows 10. The system will pick up in device manager and will install the only available driver, CDSYS. Therefore it will only read and write CD-ROM. IT WILL NOT READ OR WRITE Dvd of any format. Don’t waste your money.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
